Dear White People,Just kidding.
What we’re not here to do is bash white people (Fun fact: Jasmine is half white), but what we are going to do is talk about race. (Surprise!)
We know this post can easily turn into a post that sounds like we are bad-mouthing white people, and we don’t want it to. We also know this post can sound like we are complaining and possibly even perpetuating the angry black woman stereotype. Again, we don’t want it to.
In my opinion, with this topic, I find it kind of hard to get people to just … listen. I feel like in this day and age a lot of people are less likely to listen when a conversation that deals with race comes up. I feel like some people are uncomfortable by it, and some people are tired of hearing about it, which sucks because that’s not what Jas and I want. We WANT people to be comfortable talking about race because doing so is the only way we are going to get anywhere (-S).
Honestly, I am a little bit (a lot of bit) frustrated with the fact that people shut down when it comes to the topic of race in general. I get it. It is a very prevalent and common topic, and maybe you’re tired of hearing about it. But truth be told, it is still here. The WORST way to deal with it would be to ignore it (-S).
When we talk about the issue and people begin to take it seriously, we won’t have a reason to bring it up anymore. Let’s have this post be a place where everyone can be open and work toward fixing the problem. On BOTH sides. (-J).
So let’s discuss.
|
Jas will be blogging more on the news/debate side because she is a dramatic, outspoken woman who loves to argue and isn’t afraid to state her opinion. You can find her in the library studying hard for the 3 finals she has back to back or screaming in outrage about the latest act of racial injustice that occurred in the news or on campus (-S). |
Sim will be blogging more about life and self-improvement because of her humanitarian and empathetic personality. She loves to help people and give advice to her fellow peers. You can most likely find her in bed (seriously, that’s the only place) sleeping, eating, watching YouTube, or streaming a show/movie on Netflix. If it is something emotional or hopelessly romantic, Sim will love it. WARNING: If the information you are disclosing to Simone becomes too sweet or sentimental, 1 teardrop or a few (or a lot) will fall from the corner of her eyes

Well, we hope we answered the general questions. If you have any other questions feel free to ask them here. We are very excited for what is to come and hope you are too! We look forward to giving you your double dose and adding extra edge to your day. Lastly, thank you for all of your support. We couldn’t appreciate it more.
